The China-UK Business Exchange and Matchmaking Conference and the Fourth China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo UK Promotion Conference was recently held in Edinburgh, UK. Over 100 representatives from the political, business, and academic sectors of China and the UK attended the conference to discuss new opportunities for bilateral economic and trade cooperation. The President of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Ren Hongbin, led a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs to attend and delivered a speech. He stated that the foundation of China-UK economic and trade cooperation is deep, and the prospects are broad. The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade is willing to cooperate with various sectors in the UK to promote the expansion and upgrading of bilateral trade, tap the potential of new formats such as service trade and e-commerce, deepen cooperation in emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, and digital economy, strengthen the synergy of industry supply chains, and achieve higher-level mutual benefits and win-win results. The Scottish Government's Export and Investment Department's Deputy Director of Export and Foreign Investment, John Primrose, said that Chinese investment in Scotland has created a large number of job opportunities. The Scottish Government will continue to support the development of local businesses and the economic and trade partnership with Chinese enterprises, while also welcoming Chinese enterprises to invest in Scotland. The Consul General of China in Edinburgh, Zhang Biao, and the CEO of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited, Hu Fang, also delivered speeches. Representatives from the UK business community at the conference positively evaluated the stable force that China's economic development brings to global industrial and supply chains and expressed their expectations for deepening practical cooperation with Chinese enterprises in areas such as green transformation and financial services. The President of the China-Britain Trade Association, Peter Bennett, stated that in the face of challenges brought by geopolitical conflicts, all parties need to work together to build a robust, reliable, and sustainable supply chain. During the conference, China Exhibition Group introduced the Fourth Chain Expo and signed a memorandum of cooperation with relevant UK institutions.
