The African Union urged all parties involved in the ongoing conflict in the region to exercise restraint and called for a just investigation into the incident. The statement stated that the Commission "strongly condemns any attacks that violate international humanitarian law, endangering the lives of civilians and humanitarian personnel." The African Union urged all parties in the conflict to exercise maximum restraint and avoid taking actions that could further escalate tensions in the region. The African Union also emphasized the need to protect civilians and humanitarian workers operating in eastern Congo.
