14 departments have released a plan to implement precise regional measures to prevent and control iodine deficiency disorders.

The National Health Commission and 14 other departments recently jointly formulated the "National Scientific and Precision Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders". The plan proposes to refine comprehensive prevention and control measures for iodine deficiency disorders and water-source iodine hazards by 2027, optimize the iodine content standards in edible salt for residents, and establish targeted iodine supplementation plans for different regions and population groups. The plan also specifies that by 2030, the prevention and control capacity of iodine deficiency disorders and water-source iodine hazards will be further consolidated and enhanced, the monitoring system will be further improved and perfected, iodine nutrition assessment and treatment management systems for current patients will become more mature. The goal is to achieve sustained elimination of iodine deficiency disorders in the population and bring water-source iodine hazards under control, ensure that the iodine nutrition levels of key population groups remain appropriate, and continuously improve the public's awareness of iodine nutrition and health.
