Recently, a team composed of researchers from Nankai University and Shanghai Space Power Research Institute has achieved a groundbreaking breakthrough. Through innovative electrolyte technology, it is expected that existing lithium batteries will achieve a multiple increase in endurance performance and significantly enhance low-temperature resistance under the same size and weight conditions. This achievement was published in the international academic journal "Nature" in the early morning of the 26th. The core breakthrough of the new battery lies in the internal electrolyte. After years of research, the team has overcome key challenges such as the difficulty of dissolving lithium salts in fluorine to synthesize a series of new fluorinated hydrocarbon solvent molecules. By regulating the electron density of fluorine atoms and the spatial steric hindrance of solvent molecules, the amount of electrolyte used is significantly reduced, and the dynamic characteristics of rapid charge transfer are improved, thereby simultaneously enhancing the energy density and low-temperature adaptability of the battery.
