During the Spring Festival holiday, Hong Kong welcomed 1.5 million mainland Chinese tourists.

The Inter-departmental Working Group on Festival Arrangements, led by the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Mr. Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, stated today that the 9-day Mainland Chinese New Year holiday ended successfully yesterday, and all arrangements for receiving tourists in Hong Kong went smoothly. According to figures from the Immigration Department, there were approximately 1.77 million visitors to Hong Kong during the Chinese New Year holiday period, a 14% increase from the same period last year. Of these visitors, around 1.5 million were from the Mainland, an increase of 14% from last year, while around 270,000 were non-Mainland visitors, also an increase of 14% from last year.
