The Mexican president said the unrest has been pacified.
On February 22nd local time, Nemecio Oseguera Cervantes, the leader of one of Mexico's largest drug trafficking organizations, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, was killed during a military operation conducted by the Mexican armed forces. Following this, riots broke out in several parts of Mexico. During a press conference on February 23rd, Mexican President Lpez Obrador stated that the situation of riots nationwide, triggered by retaliatory actions from drug trafficking organizations, has been calmed down. Lpez Obrador also mentioned that all arrests of drug traffickers on the 22nd were carried out by the Mexican federal armed forces, and the US military was not involved. The cooperation between Mexico and the US mainly involves intelligence sharing.
