Hundreds of companies sue to demand refunds for the "unauthorized" tariffs paid to the US government.
Local time on February 21, it was learned that after the US Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration's large-scale tariff measures were illegal, hundreds of companies, including large retailers, have filed lawsuits requesting a refund of the payments made for the tariffs imposed by the US government, which were deemed "overreaching" by the US Supreme Court. According to data from the US Customs and Border Protection in December last year, tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act have cumulatively collected about $130 billion. An estimate from the University of Pennsylvania suggests that this total may now exceed $175 billion. Some economists say that the process for businesses to apply for refunds of already paid tariffs is currently unclear, but eligible US companies are not the only group burdened with the tariff costs.
