David Sambur, Co-Head of Private Equity at Apollo Global Management, believes that acquiring companies are on the brink of a major shake-up in the software industry, as they have failed to anticipate how technologies like artificial intelligence will completely disrupt the industry. "It's not until now that people are beginning to focus on the 'multi-car pile-up' that is about to happen on the fast lane of software investment... If you are willing to open your eyes in 2022, you will see that the signs of this have been visible for some time." As investors reevaluate the economic models and future growth rates of software companies, the industry needs to prepare for an "imminent valuation reset."
