Excessive nearly 2000 times, high concentrations of organic fluorides were detected in the groundwater of Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.
Tokyo-based chemical manufacturer DIC announced on the 17th that in the groundwater of its factory in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, the concentrations of "PFOS" and "PFOA" organic fluorine compounds were detected to be as high as 99,600 nanograms per liter, which is 1,992 times higher than the Japanese national standard. The company stated that the factory used to produce PFOS before 2003, and also used substances that may generate PFOA during the decomposition process before 2014. The company plans to further investigate whether groundwater containing PFOS and other substances is flowing out of the factory area, and also plans to hold an information session for residents in the surrounding area starting on the 18th.
