On the evening of February 15, the Emergency Management Department urgently convened an emergency and fire dispatch meeting to report on the explosion at a fireworks retail store in Donghai County, Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province. It warned all regions to deeply learn from the lessons and strengthen safety supervision and safety promotion in the production, transportation, sales, and ignition of fireworks and firecrackers to prevent similar incidents from happening again. Around 2:00 pm on February 15, an explosion occurred at a fireworks and firecracker retail store in Dong'an Village, Pomegranate Street, Donghai County, Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, resulting in 8 deaths and 2 injuries. The Emergency Management Department dispatched personnel to the scene, demanded a comprehensive investigation and verification of casualties, and urged full efforts to treat the injured, identify the cause as soon as possible, and send a working group to the scene for guidance. At the same time, it issued a safety alert to all fireworks and firecracker enterprises and retail stores, requesting a comprehensive inspection of safety risks and resolutely preventing behaviors such as excessive storage and unauthorized ignition on site.
