According to the Health Commission of Huanggang, on January 13, Zhang reported a medical issue regarding the missed diagnosis of congenital spinal deformity in a newborn. The Huanggang Municipal Party Committee and Government attached great importance to this issue and established a joint investigation team, inviting experts from provincial departments to conduct a comprehensive investigation into Zhang's concerns. The investigation found that the Huanggang Maternal and Child Health Hospital is qualified to conduct prenatal screening and diagnosis. During the prenatal screening of Zhang, Doctor Li, who held a Physician Practice Certificate, did not obtain the Maternal and Child Health Technology Qualification Certificate, did not strictly follow the guidelines of the "China Ultrasound Prenatal Screening Guidelines", and failed to obtain a full sagittal section image of the entire spine including the neck chest segment. No evidence of deliberate alteration or deletion of records was found during the investigation; the doctor involved did not detect any suspected defects. Based on the findings of the investigation, relevant personnel have been held accountable, with the Deputy Director in charge of the Huanggang Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Mei, being investigated. The Director of the Ultrasound Imaging Department, Gao, has been given a warning and relieved of his position, while Doctor Li has received a disciplinary warning and has been transferred to a different position. The hospital and the individuals involved have reached a settlement. We will learn from this incident and continue to carry out special medical quality and safety rectification throughout the city, carefully investigating and rectifying any existing issues. We sincerely accept the supervision of the public and appreciate the concern and attention of the community.
