In 2025, Beijing has established 380,100 new operating entities, an increase of 20.7% compared to the previous year; 152,500 of these are new technology enterprises, accounting for 47.49% of all new businesses. The leading role of scientific and technological innovation is becoming more prominent, with the intensity of R&D investment in the whole society stable at around 6%. For nine consecutive years, Beijing has topped the global ranking of "Nature Index - Research Cities". The artificial intelligence core industry scale and the number of enterprises both account for about half of the total in the country. Beijing also leads the country in the number of national high-tech enterprises and specialization and new "small giant" enterprises.
