During the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" period, popular science import tax preferential policies will be implemented.

According to the Ministry of Finance, in order to support the development of science popularization, the Ministry of Finance, the General Administration of Customs, and the State Administration of Taxation jointly issued a notice specifying that during the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" period, science popularization audio-visual works and science popularization supplies imported into science museums, natural history museums, and other science popularization venues are exempt from import duties and value-added tax. The policy covers equipment related to the purchase of broadcasting rights for science popularization audio-visual works for personal use, as well as science popularization instruments and exhibits that cannot be produced domestically or whose performance does not meet the requirements. This policy will be implemented from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2030, and the specific list of tax-exempt goods will be formulated by the relevant departments.
