Shanghai Municipal Party Committee Cyberspace Administration and Municipal Public Security Bureau Cyber Security Corps jointly launched a special campaign to crack down on AI-generated false and misleading information related to enterprises.

The Shanghai Cyberspace Administration announced that in order to effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises in our city, crack down on AI-related enterprise rumors, the Shanghai Municipal Committee Cyberspace Administration, in conjunction with the Municipal Public Security Bureau Cybersecurity Division, will launch a special campaign to crack down on "AI-generated false information related to enterprises" from today. This special campaign will focus on using AI technology to generate and disseminate false information related to enterprises, misleading the public, affecting corporate image and reputation, and attacking competitors. The Shanghai Municipal Committee Cyberspace Administration and the Municipal Public Security Bureau Cybersecurity Division will work together to strengthen the crackdown on typical cases, cut off the chain of interests generated by improper use of AI technology, and strive to achieve the effects of "treating both symptoms and root causes, combining crackdown with prevention, and purifying the ecosystem." To establish a sound long-term mechanism, the Shanghai Municipal Committee Cyberspace Administration will continue to urge local AI application programs and communication platforms to fulfill their main responsibilities, improve technical identification and manual review mechanisms, facilitate user complaint reporting channels, and strengthen the review and disposal of behaviors such as using AI to generate "homogenized" false information, illegal "farming accounts," etc.; explore effective measures to govern "digital garbage" content such as batch production of AI, low-quality replication, and sourceless fabrication. The person in charge of the Shanghai Municipal Committee Cyberspace Administration stated that while AI technology empowers economic and social development, it also faces issues such as technology misuse and the exacerbation of false information dissemination. Currently, cracking down on AI-related enterprise rumors is of great significance in building a fair and orderly business environment. The Shanghai Municipal Committee Cyberspace Administration will work with relevant departments to strictly investigate and punish websites, platforms, and accounts that do not repent during the special correction period, violate regulations, and have serious consequences, in accordance with the law, in order to effectively regulate the order of enterprise-related network information dissemination.
