US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said at an international media roundtable in Caracas that the US hopes Venezuela will provide a fair business environment to attract investment in the oil, natural gas, and electricity sectors. Wright pointed out that the risks involved in investing in Venezuela have decreased compared to two months ago. Wright stated that Venezuela's "oil isolation" status has effectively ended and he plans to visit oil fields on Thursday and interact with local workers. Wright said that in the long run, there will eventually be debt restructuring agreements reached for companies owed money. However, this is not a problem that can be solved overnight. Wright said he did not discuss the possibility of elections in Venezuela with acting President Rodriguez today, but they have discussed the topic in the past.
