During the 2025-2026 period, the Yellow River Ningxia section overall showed characteristics of late ice jam formation, short ice jam distance, and early opening of the river. On January 6th, 2026, the Yellow River Ningxia section experienced ice jam for the first time, 19 days later than the multi-year average, and the ice jam retreated for the first time on January 14th; influenced by the cooling weather, a second ice jam occurred on January 19th, with the longest ice jam distance being 170 kilometers; the river was frozen on January 21st, 18 days later than the multi-year average, with the longest distance being 12 kilometers; the river opened on January 29th and was fully open by February 5th, 14 days earlier than the multi-year average. The ice jam situation was overall stable, and no ice jam disasters occurred.
