Beijing plans to establish rules for managing tent campsites: it is strictly prohibited to occupy farmland, overnight stays must be registered for accommodation.
Recently, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and related departments have drafted the "Beijing Tent Camping Site Management Measures" and are actively seeking public opinions. The deadline for collecting feedback is from February 3 to February 11, 2026. The new regulations propose to clearly state that tent camping sites must not occupy permanent basic farmland, cultivated land, or ecological protection red line areas. Safety management will be strengthened, requiring tent camping sites providing overnight accommodation to have staff on duty 24 hours a day. In case of heavy rain with a yellow warning or above, services must be immediately halted and visitors must be advised to return.
