Major cold has begun, and the weather in many places is the coldest this winter.
Today, we welcome the last solar term of the 24 solar terms - Great Cold. The Great Cold solar term coincides with the first cold wave of the year, bringing a drop in temperature and snowfall. Today, many places in the south will enter the coldest period of this cold wave. Zhou Lixian, a meteorological analyst at the China Meteorological Administration, said that this year's Great Cold weather is colder and there will be more rain and snow. Due to the influence of the cold wave, both north and south China are experiencing the coldest period of this winter. On the 20th, the 0C line for the highest temperature will reach the Yangtze River, and the highest temperatures in many cities will drop to near freezing. Today, there will also be widespread rain, snow, and freezing weather in places such as Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Jiangxi, mainly in the form of snow. For places like Hunan and Guizhou, they need to be highly vigilant for widespread freezing rain in the next two days. By this Thursday, most parts of China will return to a state of scarce rain and snow. By then, temperatures in the south will significantly rise, especially in Jiangnan, where temperatures in many places will become above average, with the highest temperatures reaching above 15C. However, for the north, there will still be the influence of cold air later on, and the lower temperature will continue, so it is important to keep warm.
