South Africa declared a national state of disaster due to flooding.

Recent heavy rainfall in the northern region of South Africa has caused flooding, resulting in at least 37 deaths and damage to thousands of homes as of January 18th local time. The South African National Disaster Management Center declared a "national disaster state" on that day.
