The Science and Technology Department of Hainan Province issued a statement on January 15th, stating that it has recently discovered that some individuals in society have been impersonating staff members of the department. They have been contacting companies, industry units, and the general public through phone calls, text messages, or adding on WeChat to sell books and spread false information such as "leaders bringing books from out of town and requiring purchase." The Science and Technology Department of Hainan Province expressed that these actions seriously harm the reputation and image of the department, disrupt normal work order, and may lead to economic losses for related units and individuals. The department firmly stated in the declaration that it has never, in any form or under any name, promoted books, materials, or demanded fees from any unit or individual.
