The gross domestic product (GDP) of Lhasa, Tibet has surpassed one trillion yuan for the first time.
On January 14th, it was learned from the Sixth Session of the 12th People's Congress of Lhasa that the gross domestic product of Lhasa in Tibet is expected to exceed one trillion yuan for the first time in 2025. In 2025, investment and consumption in Lhasa are expected to achieve steady growth. All 60 key projects in the city have started construction, with fixed asset investment expected to grow by more than 5% year-on-year; total retail sales of consumer goods are expected to reach 55.3 billion yuan, a 5% increase. While the overall scale is expanding, the quality and structure of development are continuously optimized. In 2025, Lhasa will see the establishment of 61 new high-tech enterprises and 11 large industrial enterprises, with innovation energy and industrial capacity upgrading simultaneously. The city is expected to achieve a total import and export volume of 5.5 billion yuan in 2025, further releasing the vitality of its open economy. Meanwhile, the integration of culture and tourism continues to heat up, supporting high-quality economic and social development. In 2025, Lhasa is expected to receive 50.51 million tourists, a 16.8% increase compared to the previous year; total tourism spending is expected to reach 60.6 billion yuan, a 14.5% increase.
