According to data obtained by the South Korean newspaper "Chosun Ilbo" from market research company Omdia, Samsung Electronics' DRAM production this year is expected to increase to nearly 8 million wafers, an increase of about 5% from last year. Quarterly average production is also expected to exceed 2 million wafers for the first time. However, the actual increase in production may not reach expectations due to temporary production capacity losses brought by the transition to the sixth generation 10nm-class 1c DRAM process. Given that this level is far from enough to make up for the global memory shortage, industry insiders expect the upward trend in prices for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and DRAM to continue. SK Hynix's DRAM production is also expected to increase by about 8% to approximately 6.48 million wafers; Micron's annual production is expected to be around 3.6 million wafers, roughly the same as last year. Despite the increased production capacity of these three major DRAM manufacturers compared to last year, there is still a huge gap between supply and demand in the market. KB Securities data shows that the fulfillment rate of customer DRAM demand is only about 60%, with server DRAM below 50%.
