Joint press release by the Foreign Ministers of the People's Republic of China and the Federal Republic of Somalia
Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, held a phone conversation with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdisalam Ali. The two sides once again confirmed the solid foundation of China-Somalia strategic partnership and mutual support on core interests issues, welcoming the positive momentum in the development of bilateral relations. They agreed to deepen political mutual trust, strengthen pragmatic cooperation, and emphasized the commitment of both countries to uphold national sovereignty and unity, and defend the principle of non-interference in internal affairs. China reiterated firm support for the territorial integrity of Somalia, emphasizing that Somaliland is an integral part of Somalia. Somalia reaffirmed its commitment to the One China principle, and firm support for the Chinese government's efforts to achieve national unity, and resolute defense of the authority of UN General Assembly Resolution 2758. The two Foreign Ministers also exchanged views on expanding cooperation in fields such as economic and trade, development assistance, cultural exchanges, multilateral coordination, and promoting peace and development in the Horn of Africa region. Both sides reiterated that all countries should adhere to the basic principles established by the United Nations Charter and international law, oppose the use or threat of force in international relations, and oppose coercion and bullying practices that violate the sovereignty of other countries.
