Russia plans to build a lunar power station before 2036.
The Russian State Space Corporation announced on the 24th that it has signed a contract with the Russian aerospace company Lavochkin Research and Production Association to build a lunar power station by 2036. The Russian State Space Corporation stated on social media that the construction of the lunar power station aims to provide long-term power supply for various equipment in the Russian lunar program and the infrastructure of the international lunar research station. The participants in the Russian lunar power station project also include the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation and the Russian Kurchatov Institute. The Russian State Space Corporation stated that the project is an important step towards the goal of a permanent lunar research station and a key step in transitioning from single missions to long-term lunar exploration plans. On April 12, 2022, Russian President Putin visited the Far Eastern region of the country's Vostochny Cosmodrome on Russian Cosmonautics Day and announced that Russia will resume its lunar exploration program.
