Chinese tourists have their drones confiscated and are fined for violation of rules, the Chinese embassy in Italy reminds.
On December 24th, the Chinese Embassy in Italy reminded Chinese citizens to use drones with caution. Recently, some Chinese tourists in Italy were found to be using drones illegally, resulting in their equipment being confiscated and fines being imposed by Italian law enforcement agencies. These incidents have caused not only financial losses but also great inconvenience to the individuals' travel plans. According to Italian law, individuals must complete online training and exams for the corresponding category before using drones, as well as purchase third-party liability insurance. Drones with cameras or weighing over 250 grams must also be registered by the operator. The maximum flight altitude for drones is 120 meters, and individuals must check real-time airspace restrictions on the D-Flight map before flying. Flying drones within 5 kilometers of airports, military facilities, historical and cultural sites, and areas with large crowds is strictly prohibited. The entire historical center of Rome, including the Colosseum and Vatican City, is completely off-limits for drone flights. The Chinese Embassy in Italy reminds Chinese citizens in Italy to prioritize their own safety as the "first person responsible overseas", strictly adhere to local laws and regulations, use drones with caution, familiarize themselves with no-fly zones in advance, and especially avoid illegally flying drones in sensitive areas such as religious and military sites.
