The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference, during which a reporter asked: "There was an incident in Taipei on December 19th resulting in innocent casualties, what is your comment on this?" Spokesperson Peng Qing'en expressed, "We are deeply concerned and saddened by the incident resulting in innocent casualties in Taipei on December 19th. We express our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families, and sincerely wish the injured individuals a speedy recovery."
