On December 24th, Youku announced an upgrade to its collaboration model for TV series. TV series projects under Youku will gradually be integrated into the EPI rating system, and the platform will reward production companies based on the system rating and actual performance of the TV series after airing. EPI is a value assessment index for TV series content created by Youku, which is related to internal ratings, views, internal revenue, etc., and can intuitively reflect the performance of TV series on the platform. Under the new rules, Youku will calculate the corresponding incentive amount based on the EPI value 90 days after the end of the TV series' popularity period, and complete the approval process within 7 working days. Previously, the business model in the film and television industry was mainly based on "fixed production fees", lacking long-term incentives for content production and return mechanisms. The "EPI model" is expected to change this current situation.
