The founder of radar target characteristics in our country, Huang Peikang, passed away at the age of 90.
Today, the Second Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation issued an obituary. Comrade Huang Peikang, an excellent member of the Communist Party of China, a loyal communist warrior, a well-known radar and space electronic technology expert, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and a senior advisor of the Science and technology Committee of the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, passed away in Beijing at 12:51 on December 22, 2025, at the age of 90 due to ineffective treatment.
Comrade Huang Peikang was a pioneer and founder in the field of radar target characteristics in China, and he was dedicated to the research and development of radar technology and space electronic information technology. He made systematic and pioneering achievements in scientific fields such as radar target characteristics, microwave remote sensing, electromagnetic scattering and inverse scattering, and stealth technology. He had profound academic attainments and rich engineering experience, making indelible and outstanding contributions to the modernization of national defense in our country.
Comrade Huang Peikang was rigorous in his studies, practical in seeking truth, courageous in innovation, and willing to dedicate himself to his work. He wrote extensively, carefully nurtured and promoted younger scholars, training a large number of high-level scientific and technological backbone personnel, laying a solid foundation for China's independent and self-reliant basic research and technology, and building a talent base for overcoming difficulties and carrying on past achievements.
