Our country is a great grassland nation, with an area of nearly 4 billion mu, accounting for about 27% of the total land area, ranking first in the world. Today, the journalist learned from the National Forestry and Grassland Administration that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China has continuously strengthened grassland protection and restoration, achieving a historic shift from "overall deterioration" at the beginning of the 21st century to "overall improvement" in the ecological status of grasslands. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the ecological quality of grasslands in China has continued to improve. Through key projects such as the implementation of the "Three-North" and "Double-Chain" projects as the main focus, efforts to restore grasslands have been continuously intensified, and the area of degraded grasslands has been reduced by nearly 280 million mu. The prevention and control of harmful organisms in grasslands exceeds 1 billion mu annually, and the overall ecological status of grasslands in the country remains stable and improving. The comprehensive vegetation cover remains above 50%, and the area of healthy and sub-healthy grasslands has increased to 2.7 billion mu, accounting for over 70%. The Horqin Sand Land is once again displaying the beauty of sparse tree grasslands, and the source of sand in the Beijing-Tianjin wind corridor has significantly decreased.
