In Q3, Hong Kong recorded an international balance of payments deficit of 136.5 billion Hong Kong dollars.

According to the latest update from the Zhtng financial APP, the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department released preliminary statistics on Hong Kong's international balance of payments and international investment position for the third quarter of 2025, along with preliminary statistics on Hong Kong's external debt for the same period. Hong Kong recorded a deficit of HK$136.5 billion in the international balance of payments in the third quarter of 2025 (equivalent to 16.0% of GDP), and as a result, reserve assets decreased by the same amount.
