In December, Shanghai's Hongkou district received over one million visitors in 12 days, doubling the number of inbound tourists compared to the same period last year.

The person in charge of the cultural and tourism related department in Hongkou District said that since the launch of "Travel Plus" on November 18, Hongkou District has released diverse cultural and tourism content, carried out special activities, and launched benefits for the people. From December 1 to December 12, the total number of guests staying in hotels in the entire district reached 83,300, an increase of 33.24% compared to the same period last year. Among them, the total number of guests staying in hotels in the North Bund tourist resort reached 64,600, an increase of 33.78% compared to the same period last year; the number of inbound tourists reached 20,800, an increase of 110%, showing remarkable performance; the room occupancy rate increased by 5.9% compared to the same period last year. In terms of tourist attractions, the total number of tourists received in the entire district reached 1.0097 million, an increase of 16.6% compared to the same period last year. The attractions in the North Bund tourist resort received a total of 625,100 visitors, an increase of 20.06% compared to the same period last year; the number of tourists received in the North Bund riverside area increased by 507% year-on-year, achieving exponential growth. The North Bund riverside has become a popular destination and must-visit spot for domestic and foreign tourists entering Shanghai, and its international appeal continues to rise.
