Australian Prime Minister Albanese announced on the 18th that the Australian government will crack down on individuals spreading "hatred, division, and extremism" speech. Albanese said at a press conference in Canberra that the Attorney General and Minister for Home Affairs will begin reforms, including increasing penalties for those who promote violent hate speech. The government will also establish a new system to register individuals and organizations that spread hate speech, promote violence, or racial hatred. He also said that the Minister for Home Affairs will be given new powers to cancel visas for individuals spreading hate and division speech in Australia, and to refuse to issue visas to these individuals.
