US senators hope airlines will pay cash to passengers who are delayed for a long time.
A proposal was put forward by a group of 15 Democratic senators in the Senate on Thursday, requiring airlines to provide cash compensation for severe flight delays. Led by Senators Mark Kelly, Ed Markey, and Richard Blumenthal, the senators proposed mandatory compensation regulations following the requirements of the EU and Canada, including a minimum compensation of $300 for delays exceeding 3 hours, and a minimum compensation of $600 for delays exceeding 6 hours. This proposal was made after President Trump's government revoked former President Biden's plan to require airlines to pay cash compensation to passengers when flights in the U.S. are disrupted on November 14th.
