South Africa will "temporarily absent" from G20 related activities.
Vincent Magwenya, spokesperson for the South African President, stated on social media X on the 4th that South Africa will be "temporarily absent" while serving as the chair of the G20 in the United States, until everything returns to normal. He also stated that around this time next year, the United Kingdom will take over as the chair of the G20, at which time South Africa will engage in meaningful and substantive discussions with other countries on important international issues of common concern.
