On December 2, local time, after meeting with the energy security team, Serbian President Vucic stated that as of now, Serbia has not been able to obtain a waiver from the United States for the Serbian oil company, so the Serbian government has approved the closure of the company's refinery. Vucic expressed his "disappointment and surprise" at the US decision. He also pointed out that the US decision was based on political considerations rather than economic reasons, and Serbia is suffering as a result. Vucic said that currently, Serbia has sufficient fuel reserves to last until the end of January 2026. The Serbian government is actively seeking channels to obtain fuel. Earlier this year, the Serbian oil company was included in the US sanctions list due to so-called "secondary risks".
