The 39th joint patrol of the Gulf of Tonkin between China and Vietnam has successfully concluded.
According to the relevant agreements and annual plans between the Chinese and Vietnamese militaries, from November 19th to 20th, the Chinese Navy's Guangyuan and Aba ships, along with two Vietnamese Navy ships, formed a formation to conduct the 39th joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin. During the joint patrol, the two fleets conducted surveillance of the maritime and airspace security situation in the Gulf of Tonkin, periodically exchanging course, speed, hydrology, meteorology information, and improving command integration and joint actions through alternate command. On the 20th, based on the joint patrol, the formation carried out a joint search and rescue exercise with one fishing boat from each country encountering danger in the Gulf of Tonkin, effectively demonstrating the organizing, commanding, and emergency response capabilities of the participating forces in complex environments. Afterwards, the formation also conducted communication exercises and formation movement exercises. Since the signing of the "China-Vietnam Naval Gulf of Tonkin Joint Patrol Agreement" in 2005, the China-Vietnam Gulf of Tonkin joint patrol has become a stable platform and communication channel for strengthening deep cooperation between the two navies and enhancing the level of strategic mutual trust and cooperation between the two militaries.
