The 44th Chairpersons' Meeting of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held in Beijing on the morning of the 20th. Wang Huning, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. The meeting conveyed and studied the spirit of the important speeches and instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping recently. Wang Huning stated that it is necessary to deeply study and implement Xi Jinping's ideology on the rule of law and his important discourse on comprehensively governing the country according to law, adhere to the organic unity of the Party's leadership, the people running the country, and governing by law, actively fulfill duties and make contributions to promote socialist democracy and the rule of law. It is necessary to deeply study and implement the important speeches given by Xi Jinping when he listened to the report on the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and during his inspection in Guangdong, closely focus on the goal and tasks of Chinese-style modernization, grasp the guiding principles, main goals, strategic tasks, and major measures for the economic and social development of China during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, scientifically formulate the consultation plan of the National Committee of the CPPCC for 2026, organize CPPCC members to conduct in-depth investigations and studies on continuing to deepen comprehensive reform and expanding high-level opening-up, actively provide suggestions, and help implement major decisions and arrangements of the Party and the country. It is necessary to deepen the study and implementation of Xi Jinping's important discourse on sports work and building a Healthy China, organize CPPCC members to provide consultation and suggestions on coordinating the development of mass sports and competitive sports, conduct activities to bring sports to the grassroots level as part of the members' service to the people, and promote a healthy atmosphere of loving sports and pursuing health throughout society. It is necessary to deeply study and implement the spirit of Xi Jinping's important speeches at foreign affairs activities such as attending the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, adhere to and practice Xi Jinping's diplomatic thoughts, plan the foreign exchange plan of the CPPCC for 2026, and strive to make new contributions to China's foreign exchange work. The meeting heard a report on the supervision and handling of key proposals from the third session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC, and tentatively adopted a report on the democratic supervision work conducted by the National Committee of the CPPCC around the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan. Wang Huning emphasized the need to improve the quality and efficiency of proposal work, and better play the role of proposals in reflecting public opinion, promoting scientific and democratic decision-making, and building consensus. It is important to accurately grasp the positioning of consultative supervision, conduct democratic supervision around the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan, and better serve the central tasks of the Party and the country.
