An official from the U.S. Department of Energy revealed on the 19th local time that President Trump plans to sign an executive order at the White House next week, in which he will launch a program called "Genesis Mission" aimed at advancing the development of the United States in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The official, Carl Kahl from the U.S. Department of Energy, made the announcement at an energy opportunities conference in Knoxville, Tennessee on the 19th, stating that the move is intended to show that the Trump administration views the upcoming AI competition as equally important as the "Manhattan Project" or the space race. "We believe that 'Genesis Mission' is equally important as those aforementioned plans," Kahl refused to disclose specific details but suggested that the executive order may require more research on emerging AI technologies at U.S. national laboratories and may involve public-private partnerships. A White House official, who requested anonymity, said that discussions about the potential executive order are speculative until an official announcement is made.
