To further implement the State Council's action plan for the comprehensive treatment of safety hazards in the entire chain of electric bicycles, and promote the comprehensive implementation of the new mandatory national standard "Technical Specifications for Electric Bicycle Safety" by 2025, on November 17th, the National Electric Bicycle Safety Hazard Comprehensive Treatment Office in Beijing organized a meeting to accelerate the implementation of the new industry standards for the entire supply chain of electric bicycles. The meeting emphasized that accelerating the implementation of the new industry standards for the entire supply chain of electric bicycles is not only an important measure to coordinate high-quality development and high-level safety, but also a concrete manifestation of the principle of "putting the people first and prioritizing life". Firstly, efforts should be made to accelerate the production and market supply of new vehicle models. Leading manufacturers need to take on the responsibility as market entities and shift their focus to the research and production of new standard vehicles to enhance mass production and market supply capabilities, effectively meeting consumers' demand for new standard vehicles. Secondly, efforts should be made to strengthen market guidance and compliance. Dealers are the key link to promoting the mass deployment of new standard vehicles and are the final bridge connecting enterprises and consumers. They should actively promote the advantages and safety of new standard vehicles and increase their procurement and ordering efforts. At the same time, efforts should be made to accelerate the depletion of old standard vehicle inventory and strictly prohibit the production and sale of old standard vehicles in any form after November 30th. Thirdly, efforts should be made to promote industry self-discipline and collaborative governance. Relevant industry associations and chambers of commerce for electric bicycles should act as bridges and links, urging and guiding enterprises to implement the requirements of the new standards, consciously resist any form of illegal modification, firmly oppose low-price and low-quality products, and irrational competition, jointly maintaining a healthy, orderly, fair, and just market environment. Regulatory departments will continue to increase joint law enforcement efforts to ensure the implementation of the new standards.
