Multiple foreign media outlets pointed out on the 17th that the negative impact caused by Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's remarks on Taiwan is rapidly spreading to the Japanese economy, putting actual pressure on the Japanese economy. On the 17th, economist Kiuchi Nobuhide of the Nomura Research Institute in Japan released a report, stating that the Chinese government's call for citizens to temporarily postpone trips to Japan could lead to a reduction in Chinese tourists' spending in Japan by approximately 2.2 trillion yen, causing about a 0.36% downward pressure on Japan's GDP. Kiuchi believes that the impact of the decrease in Chinese tourists will exceed half of the annual economic growth rate, and Japan's economy is facing a "significant risk". According to a report by Japan's "Mainichi Shimbun" on the 17th, some Chinese tour groups have already started canceling reservations with Japanese travel agencies. Related inbound tourism operators are concerned that if the situation continues to escalate, the negative impact could become more evident in the near future, especially as the Chinese New Year holiday approaches. Takao Yoshie, who runs a business in Fukuoka City catering to Chinese tourists, stated that on the 16th, she received a call from a Chinese tourist who decided not to come to Japan after hesitating, cancelling a week-long Kyushu tour. Takao also mentioned that some bookings for December are at risk of being canceled, as some Chinese customers are reconsidering their travel plans. She expressed helplessness, saying, "The contradictions between governments have already affected our civilian activities, which is really distressing, but we can do nothing about it." On the 17th, Kyodo News reported that several large Chinese travel agencies have suspended the sale of Japanese tour products, and cancellations are starting to occur at Japanese hotels. Industry professionals in inbound tourism stated that Chinese tourists' spending habits directly impact their performance, and they will continue to closely monitor the situation.
