Wang Yi stated that recently, President Xi Jinping had a significant meeting with Prime Minister Trudeau in Gyeongju, South Korea, which marked a turning point in China-Canada relations. They reached important consensus on the direction for improving and developing China-Canada relations and provided strategic guidance, indicating that China-Canada relations have entered the right track after experiencing seven years of ups and downs.
Wang Yi pointed out that implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries is the most important agenda for China-Canada relations at present. China is willing to strengthen communication with Canada, take effective actions, accelerate the recovery of exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and consolidate and further improve China-Canada relations in a practical and constructive manner. The foreign affairs and commerce departments of both countries can enhance coordination, resolve their reasonable concerns through mutual understanding, friendly consultation, and promote the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of China-Canada relations.
Anand expressed that the meeting held by the leaders of the two countries in Gyeongju, South Korea over a week ago was candid, in-depth, and fruitful, ushering in an important turning point in Canada-China relations. Canada is willing to seize the opportunity with China, strengthen dialogue and communication at all levels and in various fields, enhance mutual understanding and trust, revitalize the strategic partnership between Canada and China, and achieve more mutually beneficial results in trade, consular affairs, drug control, energy, and other fields, in order to effectively implement the important consensus of the leaders of the two countries.
