The thirtieth Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is set to be held in Belem, Brazil. The incoming president of the conference, Andr Correa do Lago, issued an open letter on the 8th urging governments and institutions to enhance cooperation in addressing climate change, emphasizing three priorities for this year's conference. In the letter, do Lago referred to several recent reports from the international community, including the UN Environment Programme's "Emissions Gap Report 2025" and "Adaptation Gap Report 2025", the Nationally Determined Contributions Synthesis Report of the UNFCCC, and the "Global Carbon Budget Report" jointly released by some research institutions, pointing out the inadequacy of ambition, funding, and technology in the international community's efforts to address climate change. He stated that all parties should translate awareness of these challenges and shortcomings into motivation to strengthen their response.
