Huai Jinpeng attends the UNESCO Education Ministerial Meeting.
Recently, the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference was held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. On October 31st, local time, the Minister of Education, Huai Jinpeng, attended the Ministerial Meeting held during the conference and delivered a speech. During the thematic dialogue on "Skills Needed for a Sustainable Future", Huai Jinpeng pointed out that education is the foundation of sustainable development and the continuous prosperity of the Chinese economy is thanks to the support of education. China adheres to prioritizing the development of education, focusing on enhancing three major capabilities. First, the capability of educational equity. China has built the world's largest and high-quality basic education system, integrating science and technology education and humanities education to provide every student with fair and high-quality educational opportunities. Second, the capability of lifelong learning and innovation. By aligning with social needs and actual problems, China promotes talent supply-demand matching reform and has delivered a large number of high-quality talents to society through vocational education and higher education. Third, the capability of teacher development. China has established a teacher training system involving over 200 normal colleges and nearly 600 other institutions, and has built a highly skilled and specialized team consisting of 18.85 million teachers, injecting vitality into education and national development. Huai Jinpeng stated that China is willing to continue strengthening cooperation with UNESCO in areas such as STEM education, digital education, vocational education, and teacher training, and will continue to contribute to global education development.
