Macau's export quantity index fell by 2.5% year-on-year in 2023.

On February 27, the Statistics and Census Service of Macao released the 2023 annual and fourth quarter external merchandise trade index. The data shows that in 2023, the annual export quantity index of Macao fell by 2.5% compared to the previous year, while the unit price index rose by 1.2%, resulting in a 1.3% decrease in the value index. In the fourth quarter, the export value index rose by 13.0% year-on-year, with a 19.1% increase in re-exports and a 22.7% decrease in local product exports. The annual import quantity index of Macao in 2023 fell by 0.3%, while the unit price index rose by 1.5%, leading to a 1.2% year-on-year increase in the value index. The fourth quarter import value index fell by 3.9% year-on-year. The trade price index ratio, reflecting the ratio of export to import prices of goods, averaged 99.6 in 2023, a 0.2% decrease compared to the previous year. In the fourth quarter, the index fell by 0.2% year-on-year to 98.7.
