Last year, the Hong Kong government proposed the development of green technology in the budget, and currently has gathered more than 200 green technology companies. Wu Jianlin, Vice President of the Hong Kong Institute of Green Development and a member of the Hong Kong Green Technology and Financial Development Committee, stated that some advanced green technology companies from the mainland are willing to come to Hong Kong for development because Hong Kong environment is more international and many standards follow European and American standards. Therefore, if mainland companies can use Hong Kong as a pilot project, it will be easier to enter the European and American markets. If Hong Kong can open more scenarios and provide more proof of concept (POC) pilot projects for companies, it is believed that more mainland green technology companies will be attracted to settle in Hong Kong. Wu Jianlin believes that Hong Kong is not slower in the development of green technology compared to other cities. The Hong Kong government proposed last year to build Hong Kong into an international financial center for green technology, which was the first city to set this vision. However, he also pointed out that Hong Kong also needs to introduce new technologies to solve current problems. For example, due to the problem of capacitance, too many fixed charging piles cannot be installed. As the application of new energy vehicles in Hong Kong becomes more popular, the problem of insufficient charging piles also needs to be quickly resolved, and mobile fast charging can be introduced. Deng Xiaoguang, the founder of the innovative new energy technology company Guoshuneng (Shanghai) Energy Technology, pointed out that from 2009 to 2022, only 10 million new energy vehicles were produced in the entire Chinese market. But just in 2023, the past 13 years of production doubled to 20 million. He believes that at this historical point in time, new energy vehicles have solved the problems of safety, short range, high cost, and insufficient level of intelligence. He stated that Hong Kong is a great platform for the company's development, as it can showcase China's leading advantage in the new energy vehicle industry to the international market through Hong Kong. Therefore, he values cooperation, exhibition, and opportunities to connect with the world in Hong Kong.
