CSPC PHARMA (01093) announced that the Phase II clinical trial (SYH2072003) of SYH2072 tablets (the product), developed by the group for the treatment of uncontrolled and resistant hypertension, has officially been launched at the first research site in China. The product is a Class 1 chemical drug and a highly selective and potent aldosterone synthase inhibitor (ASI). The product can inhibit the activity of CYP11B2, a key enzyme in aldosterone synthesis, block the synthesis and secretion of aldosterone by cells of the zona glomerulosa of the adrenal cortex, reduce aldosterone levels in the blood circulation, and alleviate water and sodium retention, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing hypertension-related target organ damage. Compared with other aldosterone-modulating drugs such as mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs), the highly selective ASI blocks aldosterone synthesis at the source, effectively reducing plasma aldosterone levels and avoiding aldosterone escape after long-term use. Non-clinical studies have shown that the product demonstrates clear target activity and blood pressure-lowering effects, with a good safety profile, and is expected to provide a new treatment option for patients. The group received the Drug Clinical Trial Approval Notice issued by the National Medical Products Administration of the People's Republic of China in December 2025 and initiated the Phase I clinical trial after approval. The safety and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic characteristics of the product in humans have been preliminarily verified, indicating its potential to bring cardiovascular benefits to the Chinese hypertensive population. The clinical trial launched this time is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase II clinical trial designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the product in patients with hypertension uncontrolled after treatment with two or more antihypertensive drugs (including patients with resistant hypertension). Currently, participant recruitment and screening for the clinical trial are being actively advanced.
