BNP Paribas: Software Reseller Survey Shows Positive Signals, Oracle Corporation (ORCL.US) Is Ushering in a "Remarkable Inflection Point"
The latest software reseller survey released by BNP Paribas shows that, partly aided by generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), Oracle Corporation (ORCL.US) is at a "remarkable inflection point." Analyst Stefan Slowinski said in a note to clients that software reseller survey results improved in Octoberafter a decline in Julywith the European market particularly standout. The analyst added that Oracle Corporation's tracked spending score (covering spending over the past three months) rose "surprisingly," while Adobe (ADBE.US) had the lowest score and Zoom (ZM.US) survey results also deteriorated.
Other companies with strong performance and positive results included Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN.US) AWS, which had the highest score; Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US) cloud platform; and Microsoft Corporation (MSFT.US). In contrast, IBM (IBM.US) had the lowest score, followed by Zoom and Adobe.
The analyst said generative artificial intelligence remains the area with the highest demand. Notably, this area has replaced cybersecurity as the area with the strongest demand. By comparison, spending demand in human capital management and procurement was the lowest.
The analyst wrote: "We believe this could be a potential inflection point for generative artificial intelligencethe technology is now maturing and beginning to drive budget allocation." "Oracle Corporation is showing a remarkable inflection point in key product categories, while Microsoft Corporation Copilot is steadily advancing. Demand for Microsoft 365 Copilot rose to second place among Microsoft Corporation products, up from fifth place last quarter; Dynamics became the product with the weakest demand, and demand in the European market also weakened. Given that this was Microsoft Corporation's weaker first fiscal quarter (FQ1), we believe the Copilot-related data are a positive support."
The analyst added: "Oracle Corporation's DB@AWS and DB@Azure jumped into the top three products by demand, and OCI and Fusion also improved. Given the importance of OCI for achieving growth and DB@ for achieving profitability, we believe Oracle Corporation's survey results are reassuring."
Other key findings from the survey included: thanks to strong performance from Data Science and Snowpark, Snowflake (SNOW.US) outperformed competitor Databricks.
