Data from the Ministry of Transport show that from October 1 to 7, 2026, the cumulative cross-regional movement of people across society reached 2.142 billion person-times, averaging 306 million person-times per day, up 0.6% year on year (compared with the daily average over the 8-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday in 2025, the same below).
On October 8, data from the Ministry of Transport showed that from October 1 to 7, 2026, the cumulative cross-regional movement of people across society reached 2.142 billion person-times, averaging 306 million person-times per day, up 0.6% year on year (compared with the 8-day daily average of the 2025 Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, the same below). Among this:
Cumulative railway passenger volume was 151.87 million person-times, averaging 21.70 million person-times per day, up 12.7% year on year. Cumulative road passenger movement (including non-commercial passenger car travel on expressways and ordinary national and provincial highways, and commercial road passenger transport) was 1.96182 billion person-times, averaging 280.26 million person-times per day, down 0.3% year on year. Among this, cumulative commercial road passenger transport was 287.11 million person-times, averaging 41.02 million person-times per day, up 7.0% year on year; cumulative non-commercial passenger car travel on expressways and ordinary national and provincial highways was 1.67471 billion person-times, averaging 239.25 million person-times per day, down 1.4% year on year. Cumulative waterway passenger volume was 10.93 million person-times, averaging 1.56 million person-times per day, up 7.1% year on year. Cumulative civil aviation passenger volume was 16.92 million person-times, averaging 2.42 million person-times per day, basically flat year on year.
On October 7, 2026 (the 7th day of the National Day holiday), cross-regional movement of people across society was 290.791 million person-times, down 4.2% from the previous day and down 0.1% from the same period in 2025 (October 8, the 8th day of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, the same below). Among this:
Railway passenger volume was 23.660 million person-times, up 9.5% from the previous day and up 8.8% year on year;
Road passenger movement was 263.73 million person-times, down 5.1% from the previous day and down 0.9% year on year (among this, commercial road passenger transport was 44.54 million person-times, up 3.2% from the previous day and up 3.8% year on year; non-commercial passenger car travel on expressways and ordinary national and provincial highways was 219.19 million person-times, down 6.7% from the previous day and down 1.8% year on year);
Waterway passenger volume was 915,000 person-times, down 33.6% from the previous day and up 0.2% year on year;
Civil aviation passenger volume was 2.486 million person-times, basically flat from the previous day and up 1.5% year on year.
