Based on disclosed signed orders, the contracted scale of energy storage systems by Chinese companies in Q3 was approximately 74GWh, of which overseas market orders accounted for about 67.8GWh, or 93%.
According to incomplete statistics from TrendForce Energy Storage Observation, in the third quarter of 2026, orders disclosed by Chinese energy storage companies were mainly concentrated in overseas markets. Based on the disclosed orders, total Q3 energy storage system orders reached approximately 94GWh, while total energy storage cell orders reached approximately 246.6GWh. The above statistics include signed, operational, and delivered orders. Based on disclosed signed orders, Chinese companies signed approximately 74GWh of energy storage systems in Q3, of which overseas market orders accounted for approximately 67.8GWh, or 93%. Overseas orders account for over 90%, with Europe and the Middle East more concentrated The European market remains an important destination for Chinese energy storage companies' overseas business. The signed scale disclosed for the European market in Q3 was approximately 31.2GWh, accounting for 42% of the overall signed scale. Orders in this region covered a broad range; in addition to mature markets such as Germany and the UK, emerging markets such as Greece and Romania also signed relatively large-scale orders. Signed order capacity in the Middle East market was approximately 21.3GWh, accounting for approximately 28.7% of total signed capacity. Among these, BYD Company Limited secured an 11.275GWh energy storage order in July, the largest single order in Q3; in September, Gotion High-Tech signed a 6GWh order in Saudi Arabia, while Huawei secured a 4GWh project order in Egypt. These large orders drove up the overall signed scale. The Asia-Pacific market (excluding China) signed approximately 14.6GWh of orders in Q3, mainly from markets such as Australia, India, Japan, the Philippines, and Malaysia. By contrast, the Americas market had a relatively small order scale, with signed capacity of approximately 1.94GWh. GW-level large orders frequent, accounting for 85.3% of total signed order scale In terms of order scale, among the energy storage system orders signed in Q3 2026, there were 19 orders with an explicit scale of 1GWh or above, totaling approximately 62.2GWh, accounting for 84% of all signed orders. Among them, there were 5 orders with a single-order scale of 5GWh or above. These were the 11.275GWh order signed by BYD Company Limited with UAE energy company Masdar, the 6GWh order signed by Gotion High-Tech in Saudi Arabia, the 5GWh order signed by Chuyang Energy with Denmark's KK Group, the 5GWh Tianheng sodium-ion battery energy storage system order signed by Contemporary Amperex Technology with European new energy integrator Alfen N.V., and the 5GWh energy storage system order signed by Rongjie Energy with Indian power company JSW Energy Limited. Orders in the 1GWh5GWh range were also relatively concentrated, involving companies such as Contemporary Amperex Technology, BYD Company Limited, Sungrow Power Supply, Eve Energy Co.,Ltd., Huawei, Chuyang Energy, Beijing HyperStrong Technology, and Singularity Energy. Energy storage cell orders reach 246.6GWh, with increasing large-capacity and sodium-ion orders According to incomplete statistics from TrendForce Energy Storage Observation, Chinese energy storage companies disclosed approximately 246.6GWh of signed cell orders in Q3. Among these, the 206GWh battery supply framework agreement signed by Eve Energy Co.,Ltd. with Fluence accounted for a relatively high share, but its supply cycle covers 20272031, making it a long-term supply agreement. From a product perspective, 314Ah remained an important product in current orders, while large-capacity cells also began entering the market on a large scale. Pengcheng Infinite signed a 25GWh long-term supply contract with Jiayang Energy, of which 20GWh was for 314Ah energy storage cells and another 5GWh was for 587Ah large-capacity cells; Rongjie Energy signed a 4GWh framework cooperation agreement with Lineage Power, involving 314Ah and 588Ah lithium iron phosphate cells. Sodium-ion batteries also began expanding into overseas markets. Zhongke Haina signed a 5-year 10GWh sodium-ion battery long-term supply agreement with South Korea's VOLTA Corporation. BYD Company Limited and Contemporary Amperex Technology each signed orders exceeding 10GWh BYD Company Limited (01211) signed orders of approximately 13.68GWh, mainly from the European and Middle East markets. Among these, it secured a 600MW/2.4GWh order in the Polish market, while orders in the Middle East market reached 11.275GWh. Products were mainly the Haohan energy storage system, with application scenarios primarily large-scale energy storage projects. Contemporary Amperex Technology (03750) signed approximately 13.65GWh, covering markets including Europe and South America. European orders were relatively concentrated, involving markets such as Greece, the UK, and Romania; in addition, it secured a 200MW/1.3GWh order in Chile.
