Gold Fields Limited Sponsored ADR (GFI.US) plunged more than 11%, AngloGold Ashanti (AU.US) dropped over 5%, Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (AEM.US) and First Majestic Silver (AG.US) fell more than 4%, Silvercorp Metals (SVM.US) and Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS.US) declined nearly 4%, while Newmont Corporation (NEM.US) and Kinross Gold Corporation (KGC.US) dropped more than 3%. On the news front, spot gold briefly fell below $4,140/oz during intraday trading, down more than 3% for the day. Spot silver briefly fell below $61/oz during intraday trading, down more than 5% for the day.
